Course aim and objectives: The course provides comprehensive knowledge for learning the skills and becoming qualified in conducting competency assessment of seafarers’ skills for critical operations of vessels by learning assessment techniques with the purpose of enhancing continual improvement and closing identified performance gaps. The course integrates elements of IMO Model Course 1.30 and OCIMF’s TMSA, SIGTTO, OPITO, SIRE 2.0, DBMS industry best practice guidelines regarding technical and behavioral seafarer competency assessments. The course also provides methods for proactive benchmarking, improvement of performance and for enhancing operational efficiency leading to the promotion of safety culture
Course participation: The training is open to company managers, superintendents, internal auditors, deck & engine senior ship officers as well as office personnel responsible for conducting planned competency assessments for improving seafarer performance. For successful completion of the course and achieving a Certificate of Completion as Qualified Maritime Assessor, participants are required to submit during the second day of the training and present a competency assessment plan verifying the performance standards assessed of the seafarer(s) according to rank for which they will be evaluated by the rest of the course participants
Course duration: 2 days This training is provided with real time instruction through zoom platform in two pre-scheduled interactive learning sessions
